Freedom Economics Foundation is an independent foundation. We want political and economic decisions to be assessed by their impact on freedom, and we build the instruments that make this possible.

The founders

The foundation was established by Douwe Cnossen, Michiel den Haan and Mischa Meerburg.

Douwe Cnossen is a former lawyer and political adviser in the Dutch House of Representatives, and knows the language and terrain of political-economic decision-making from the inside.

Michiel den Haan is an economist and researcher with extensive experience in integrated analysis, modelling complex systems and systems thinking.

Mischa Meerburg is an energy expert, policy adviser and former faction representative in the Amsterdam municipal council. In those roles he gained extensive experience with the practice of political decision-making around economic transitions.
